Michael Fitzpatrick began his art career in the mid-sixties attending the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. After graduating he began his career working for D’Arcy, McManus, Masius Advertising in New York as an art directory. He then moved back to the west coast where he began his own ad agency, Fitzpatrick and Walker Advertising. Drawing and design were always a large part of Michael’s daily activity. In New York he was drawing storyboards for TV ads by the hundreds. In California, design and illustration were his emphasis.
All of the commercial activity Michael was working on was only a backdrop for his real love, painting. In the nineties he stepped out of the corporate role and focused on his fine art. He has been painting nearly every day since dedicated to his work. Michael has collectors from around the world and shows in galleries in Sausalito and Napa. He held the prestigious role as resident painter at Domain Chandon Vineyards in Napa Valley.
Michael paints in oil in a traditional style which allows him to utilize his classical training. He paints figurative, still life and landscapes.
“In my paintings I work to express beauty through the orchestration of two-dimensional elements – shape, value and temperature. I infuse randomness whenever possible and at every scale. Random is beauty: There are no ugly clouds.” – Michael Fitzpatrick
